Miriam Margoyles to play Queen Victoria in new series of The Windsors

Miriam Margolyes is to guest star as Queen Victoria in the new series of The Windsors on Channel 4.

Margoyles (Call the Midwife, Miriam’s Big Fat Adventure) will join Julia Deakin (Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz) and Simon Day (The Life of Rock with Brian Pern, The Fast Show) who will play Carole and Mike Middleton in series three.

Made by Noho Film and TV, The Windsors is executive produced by Camilla Campbell and Robert Wulff-Cochrane and written by Bert Tyler-Moore and George Jeffrie.

It was commissioned by Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy at Channel 4 and Jon Petrie is the Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 Comedy.

Margolyes said: “Queen Victoria has always been one of my heroes. I hope she’ll forgive my irreverent portrayal.”

The Windsors will air from Tuesday 25th February at 10pm on Channel 4.
