Tributes paid to Group M futures director Adam Smith
Tributes have been paid to Adam Smith, the futures director at Group M, who has died at the age of 58.
Smith launched Group M's global forecasting practice in 2006 and was best known for its regular This Year Next Year report.
He had joined WPP's media buying arm from Publicis-owned Zenith, where he was head of publications.
Mark Read, WPP's chief executive, said that Smith had brought "a fearsome intellect to the business of advertising".
He added: "His opinions and analysis were sought by clients, the industry and the financial community.
"He often presented at WPP’s quarterly results meetings, where analysts would crowd around him afterwards, hoping for more nuggets on the global trends shaping our business.
"Above all, Adam was a generous, thoughtful and much-loved colleague and he will be sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune to work with him."
Smith, who leaves a wife and two children, died on December 27th after a long battle with cancer.
