Retail intelligence firm BeMyEye - the crowdsourced Data As A Service provider - has acquired Streetbee, a Russian image recognition provider.

This will be London-based BeMyEye’s third acquisition in as many years - it previously took over LocalEyes in 2016, and Task360 in 2017. This latest move will see BeMyEye bring their ‘Perfect Shelf’ solution to market, as well as extending their reach to Russia and the Eurasian CIS.

‘Perfect Shelf’ will use image recognition to optimise the shopping experience more quickly and affordably on behalf of consumer goods organisations. It analyses insights including share of shelf and planogram compliance so clients can make instant decisions.

All of Streetbee’s team and technology will be integrated into BeMyEye, with many senior figures joining in similar positions. Co-founder and former CMO Andrey Eliseev is joining BeMyEye as CMO; Streetbee’s Co-founder and CEO Kirill Nepomnyashchiy becomes VP Sales Russia and CIS; and former CTO Vladimir Lyzo is joining as Head of Image Recognition Development.

BeMyEye allows companies to crowdsource in-store data from paid app users, who act as remote secret shoppers. Members check stock levels, items on display, and point-of-sale marketing, using their phones to verify checks. Image recognition will make this more efficient and cost-effective.

Luca Pagano, BeMyEye CEO, said: “Field forces should not be burdened with data collection tasks, instead they should be empowered with action orientated in-store insights so they can focus 100% on selling and taking remedial action when and where it is needed.

“Perfect Shelf enables consumer goods companies to adopt a lean go-to-market strategy, progressively eliminating waste and enhancing field performance at a time when they are under huge pressure to find growth and demonstrate a positive ROI on their field force investments.”

Eliseev, new CMO, said: “We’ve been working with large CPG and Life Science brands across Russia and CIS since 2013, to develop one of the most advanced Crowdsourcing and Image Recognition (IR) technologies in the market. We’re excited to be joining BeMyEye and see our integrated crowd + Image Recognition solution, Perfect Shelf, deployed over such a large geographical expanse.”
