Digital ads firm AppNexus bolsters London headcount
Online targeted ads specialist, AppNexus, said it is expanding its presence in Europe by adding 60 new positions, 22 of them in London.
The US firm, which is owned by AT&T’s advertising and analytics offshoot said the other jobs would be spread across France, Germany, Spain, and Italy.
Allocating just over a third of the European headcount to London will be seen as a vote of confidence in the UK economy, just as it is about to leave the European trading block.
Jobs aim to foster EMEA growth
The investment aims to foster growth of its business in EMEA as well as augment client support and reach, and diversify offerings, including programmatic media trading and advanced marketplace tools.
AppNexus’ advertising technology platform harnesses real-time analytics and machine learning to power the companies that comprise the open internet.
The firm said its enterprise technology and advertising marketplace help marketers reach consumers with more relevant and engaging advertising which helps publishers monetise their content.
In turn, this allows those same publishers to offer that content – like quality journalism, video, music, and games – free to consumers across Europe and around the world.
“Leading European publishers, agencies, and advertisers anchor AppNexus’ marketplace, and I’m thrilled we’re making significant investments to better support and optimise their businesses, as we seek to grow our presence further in Europe” Jerome Underhill, SVP, EMEA, AppNexus.
“Backed by Xandr’s resources, we’re doubling down on our EMEA markets, putting the teams in place to support advanced media trading, as well as new layers of service in our marketplace, to continue driving programmatic development across the region.”
With the convergence of digital and television advertising gaining velocity, AppNexus said it is well placed to support the evolving needs of publishers and media buyers.
UK is world leading creative hub
“The UK is home to world-leading digital and creative industries, and Xandr’s investment is further international recognition of our talented workforce, business friendly environment, and unique creativity,” said Margot James, UK Minister for Digital.
“We are committed to making Britain the best place in the world to grow a business and look forward to more companies expanding their operations on our shores.”
AppNexus’ commercial business in the United Kingdom was established in 2011 and the London office now boasts almost 100 employees.
“The UK advertising market, especially digital, is by far the largest and most advanced outside of the US and continues to grow very quickly. Our London base grants us access to relevant skillsets, which, combined with our ability to quickly onboard and train those people, is paramount to our ability to keep pace,” said Nigel Gilbert, Chief Market Strategist, EMEA.
