Just Eat has appointed EasyJet's Alberto Rey Villaverde as chief data officer.

The news comes as the takeaway food delivery app aims to imprive its intelligence capabilities. From 11 March, Villaverde will lead Just Eat’s analytics and business insights and data science teams.

He will have the remit over business information, management information and reporting, as well as artificial intelligence, algorithmic development and machine learning.

The appointment comes just a month after chief executive Peter Plumb departed the company, to be replaced internally by Peter Duffy.

Duffy said: “Alberto’s expertise will help to position Just Eat as the market leader in data and analytics, as we further personalise our service and deliver our vision of ‘Serving the World's Greatest Menu. Brilliantly.’”
