Digitas UK CEO Dani Bassil has announced that Matt Holt is to join her new executive team as Chief Strategy Officer UK.

Holt is leaving Havas after five months as head of experience strategy. Before that he was at Ogilvy UK, where he was head of experience planning.

He has worked for a diverse range of clients including BA, GSK, EY, Nestlé and American Express. At Digitas he will be responsible for developing the agency’s strategic capability, working with key clients and building out the connected marketing offering, alongside other key players in the agency.

He replaces Fern Miller, who left in June last year without another agency job to go to. Holt's role differs from his predecessor's because he also has a remit to build Digitas’ connected marketing offering.

The announcement marks a sea change seen in recent months at Digitas under the leadership of Bassil, and follows the recent news of Emma De La Fosse’s appointment as Chief Creative Officer to kick start a new era of executive leadership.

At the same time Gregor McQuattie and Rafe Blandford, currently part of the  Digitas family, will be promoted to Managing Director and the newly created position of Chief Product Officer (CPO), respectively. The new team will all be in place from February 2019, with McQuattie and Blandford taking up their new roles with immediate effect.

Bassil said: "I couldn’t ask for a group of more talented and passionate people to work with and I’m over the moon that we start 2019 on the front foot.

"This marks the next step in ensuring we create wonderful digital experiences for our clients and their customers, and the next exciting chapter in our development as an agency."

Holt said, “This is a fantastic opportunity. Having worked closely with Emma in the past, I know she’s the real deal. Dani is an impressive leader and Gregor and Rafe have great reputations. Digitas is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in 2019. The agency has a real buzz and that’s down to Dani’s leadership. I can’t wait to get started.”
