Data science firm AirPR has raised $8 million (£14.24m) in Series C funding.

The San Francisco based company will use the cash injection to open new offices in New York, Chicago, and London. It will also help to develop new products, expand its R&D efforts and make hires on its engineering and data science teams.

Existing investors Wildcat Ventures, Storm Ventures, and Correlation Ventures participated in the round, along with a new investor, Pereg Ventures.

This latest round brings the total that AirPR has raised to $18 million, whilst its valuation remains undisclosed.

AirPR analyses engagement metrics for the articles, authors, influencers, and messages that PR’s send out. With data insights that help to reveal the return on investment can help to measure and attribute the real impact of PR’s.

It has also developed a database of journalists, called Author Intelligence. It recommends contacts based on previous searches and builds profiles of each of its contacts based on their articles and social media activity.

Dan Beltramo, AirPR CEO, said the company now has plans to improve workplace flow and automate the data insights.

He added: "One of the things we hear from our customers is, ‘This data is great, the analytics are first class, but there’s so much. Can you have the AI make specific recommendations about activities we might pursue, which could be topic areas, distribution areas, competitive activity, and so forth?’"
