Mirror.co.uk became the UK's second-most popular news site in July.

The most recent Comscore figures peg Reach's flagship title in second place amongst UK news outlets, behind The Sun.

The Mirror is now more widely-read than The Guardian and The Daily Mail, according to Comscore. Reach also remains the top-placed UK news group.

According to Reach's own figures, the group saw a total of 1.4 billion pageviews across its properties during July.

Commenting on the results, Ben Rankin, Editorial Director at Mirror Online said: “The Mirror has had a phenomenal summer and we’re confident that the strategic changes we’ve made this year will continue to bear fruit.

"We’re only getting better and faster on the content that readers love us for – breaking news, showbiz and sport - and we’re growing our team to match these ambitions. If the Sun isn’t already feeling us nipping at their heels, they should be."
