The BBC has ordered the first series of a new show from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

He will adapt SAS: Rogue Heroes, a book by Ben Mcintyre that plots the course of the development of the British special forces.

The BBC said the series "will tell the story behind the revolutionary thinking which led to the creation of a new form of combat and warfare in the deserts of North Africa.”

It continued: “Celebrating the glory, action and camaraderie at the heart of this story, the series will delve into the psychology of the flawed, reckless but astonishingly brave group of maverick officers and men who formed the SAS in the darkest days of World War Two.”

The show will be produced by Kudos, who are also responsible for Broadchurch.
