Highest marketing salary rises revealed for 2019
In 2019, salaries for digital marketing roles have increased significantly higher than any other roles in marketing.
The highest salary rises were awarded to Optimisation Managers, whose salaries increased 7.1%, followed by SEO/PPC Executives and Digital Marketing Managers, where salaries increased by 6.5%.
The rise in the value of digitally-skilled marketers is a direct consequence of a sector-wide skills shortage, felt by 70% of marketing employers, according to Hays.
These findings come from the Hays Salary & Recruiting Trends 2020 guide, which makes use of their own survey of over 31,500 employers and employees.
Over two thirds (69%) of marketing employers increased salaries in the past 12 months and 66% expect to increase salaries again this year.
Clare Kemsley, Director of Hays Marketing, comments: “Considering such widespread digital transformation across the country, it’s unsurprising that digital marketing professionals have seen generous salary rises in the year just gone.
"These skills are set to stay in demand throughout 2020 as so many organisations are investing in new technology. Employers will be looking for well-rounded employees who have strong soft skills to manage projects and lead them through change in the new year.
"Clearly salary is important to marketing professionals, so employers are encouraged to be transparent about pay structures and promotion timelines as well as publishing pay levels across their organisation."
