Wimbledon places itself "at the forefront of world news" through #JoinTheStory
A new marketing campaign for the oldest tennis tournament in the world aligns the historic events at the tennis club with groundbreaking moments in world history.
The campaign has been titled '#JoinTheStory' and includes broadcast, outdoor and online content. The one-minute TV advert, 'The Story Continues', places events like Amelia Earhart's transatlantic flight and the fall of the Berlin Wall with prominent headlines about landmark Wimbledon events, like the first colour broadcast of a match, wins by Steffi Graf and Pete Sampras, and Serena Williams breaking records.
The ad, created by McCann London, launched the campaign officially yesterday (June 10th), and is subtitled "Coming soon to a front page near you."
James Ralley, All England Lawn Tennis Club Head of Commercial and Brand, said: “The story of Wimbledon began in 1877 and we’ve been making headlines ever since. Each tournament creates new heroes and new stories; while our greatest moments have shared the front page with two world wars, the moon landings and the invention of the Internet.
“This global campaign truly celebrates Wimbledon’s ongoing role at the forefront of world news and events - and shows that when it comes to sporting achievement the best is yet to come.”
