Global eCommerce giant to exhibit at Digital City Expo and host official festival launch
British unicorn Boohoo is supporting next month's Digital City Festival (DCF) taking place in Manchester, exhibiting at Digital City Expo and hosting the week's Official Opening at its headquarters.
The global online fashion house, which is valued at at least £2 billion, will be showing what it can do in the eCommerce Zone at Digital City Expo (March 11th and 12th), two days' worth of meeting influential exhibitors and hearing from leading speakers at the landmark Manchester Central. This forms the cornerstone of the wider Digital City Festival, which features events all across Manchester.
Boohoo will also open the week of events celebrating the digital sector, at a function hosting local leaders and special guests.
Registration is open now for Digital City Expo, and is free to all. Those registering for tickets can also buy a Priority Pass to gain guaranteed access to the popular Keynote Theatre.
Digital City Festival, on March 9th to the 13th, takes place all across Manchester, featuring a wide range of events designed to celebrate digital in the UK and beyond. The expo at Manchester Central will be its cornerstone, but a whole host of free and paid-for fringe events are also being planned around Manchester. A selection have already been announced, with more still to come.
You can also expect the Digital City Awards, a stylish event rewarding talent and innovation in the sector, and the official afterparty of Digital City Expo hosted by global agency Dept, Cross The Line.
Speaking ahead of Digital City Festival, Jo Graham, Boohoo CIO, said: "As a pure play digital fashion brand based in the centre of this amazing city, boohoo is delighted to be part of this first digital showcase. Boohoo began its journey in the heart of Manchester’s historic textile district and from these humble beginnings has built a global business of seven highly successful brands, with millions of customers across the globe.
"With no bricks and mortar retail estate our ability to understand, connect with, inspire and delight our customers is totally reliant on our digital ‘shop front’.
"The strength of the digital industry in Manchester and its reputation as a centre of excellence has enabled us to attract some outstanding talent and it is this talent that has helped us to grow the business from very humble beginnings to one of the world’s leading online fashion retailers. We now employ over 1,000 people in our Manchester offices, supported by our colleagues from our international offices in London, Paris, Berlin and LA.
"The ambition, determination and talent within this city makes it the perfect home for forward thinking global businesses like ours and we are excited to be involved in an event that showcases what the city has to offer."
