LadBible 'has more top-performing stories on Facebook than BBC and Guardian'
Content from UK viral publisher LadBible is regularly beating stories from established titles including the Guardian and the BBC.
New figures from media analytics company NewsWhip, reported by Nieman, suggest that LadBible had 182 stories ranked in the Facebook top 10,000 during Q2.
This compares with 153 from BBC UK, 134 from BBC international, and just 105 from the Guardian.
But while the upstart publisher had more popular content, the legacy media giants still tend to enjoy the highest engagement levels.
Fox News was the publisher with the highest level of Facebook user engagement over the period, followed by NBC and then BBC UK. The Daily Mail came in fifth.
Overall, publisher engagement rose during the period, bucking a steady period of decline.
Native video is also staging a comeback in popularity, according to the figures.
Some 55 per cent of all the top 10,000 stories during Q2 were native video, compared with around 40 per cent during the previous period.
Live video, meanwhile, barely makes a dent, making up just 70 of the top posts.
