Pret uses Instagram to let customers preserve their favourite part of Eat
Following its acquisition of the rival lunch chain this year, Pret has taken to Instagram to find out which single dish from Eat's popular range will be kept on as its branches get converted.
Pret spent £60 million to acquire Eat in May, and plans to convert most of its locations, of which there are 95 across the UK, into Veggie Prets. There are currently just four of the vegetarian outlets in the country.
75 of Eat's former locations are found in London. Up until its acquisition earlier this year, Eat was making significant losses. Many outlets are still open under the Eat banner, with some having been sold off. The project of converting each Eat outlet is not set to be completed until later in 2020.
To preserve part of what made people love Eat so much, Pret is offering its customers the opportunity to save one popular dish from the Eat menu.
Pret released the following message on its Instagram story - "Vote to save your favourite @Eatuk recipe and we'll add it to our menu next year", using the hashtag #SaveYourFave. Voters can choose between the Chicken Pot Pie, Humous and Falafel Mezze, and the Firecracker Chicken Flatbread.
Guy Meakin, UK Food & Coffee Director, said: “We know Eat customers will miss the food that they’ve enjoyed over the years, so we want to offer one of their favourite products on Pret’s menu.
"Once customers have voted for their winner, our Food Team will work closely with Eat on the finished result and we are looking forward to sharing it with customers in 2020."
