Westfield announces AI-enabled store in partnership with Save The Children

Westfield London is preparing for the launch of a new AI-powered retail concept.

The project will see the opening of a store that uses artificial intelligence tech to track and stock the 100 items of menswear and womenswear that are most-trending online at any given point.

Westfield is partnering with AI firm Nextatlas to deliver the store, with live data being gathered from what they refer to as "trend innovators".

Money raised from sales will go to Save The Children, which marks its 100th anniversary this year.

Commenting on the announcement, Westfield Europe chief marketing officer Myf Ryan said: "One of the biggest industry trends is the merging of online and physical retail.

"We know that the UK is shopping online, but we’re also seeing and hearing from consumers that they crave the human factor that shopping in person provides – the ability to touch, feel, try and seek advice, to ensure the products are right for you. 'The trending store' provides the best of both worlds via a unique shopping experience – one that we believe represents the way we will all be shopping in the future."

The inaugural event takes place on July 16th
