HSBC herald diversity in new Full English Finals ad

HSBC UK has unveiled the latest instalment in its Global Citizen campaign.

The Full English Final ad marks the fact that this year, for the first time in history, both the Champions League and the Europa League will feature all-English finals.

In the ad the bank plays on the "strength in diversity" that it says also characterises each of the competing teams but that it says also reflects its brand narrative of 'Together we thrive'.

The copy-led Full English Final creative references England not only as the home of football, but also as the home of "Gabonese Golden Boots, a Belgian waltzing wizard, one of our own, and an Egyptian king."

The ad was devised by Wunderman Thompson, and will run in press and out-of-home across the weekend of the Champions League final.

Commenting on the launch, HSBC head of campaigns Sarah Mayall said: “We believe that the people, communities and businesses in the UK thrive most when connected and open. Our Global Citizen campaign earlier this year is central to this, and with ‘Full English Final’ we are continuing to reinforce our strong belief that we are all part of something bigger, whilst celebrating the great success of our English football teams”.

The Champions League final will see Spurs play Liverpool, while in the Europa League Arsenal will take on Chelsea.
