Former Lego CDO Jean-Jacques Van Oosten has been named the new chief customer and digital officer at Kingfisher, the parent company that manages both of Britain's names in DIY and trade, B&Q and Screwfix.

He joins the Kingfisher executive team, based at head office in Paddington, London.

Van Oosten has previously worked at Kingfisher, where he was Group IT Director in the three years up to 2008. From there, he moved to become CIO and Non-food Change Director at Tesco.com; then onto Travis Perkins, also as CIO; then became CTO of Richemont.

His most recent role at the Danish toy company saw Van Oosten leading the charge to make eCommerce a pivotal part of the organisation.

Kingfisher CEO, Thierry Garnier, said: “JJ is an experienced digital leader with a track record of driving change in international companies.

“He has a key role to play at Kingfisher as we look to accelerate our digital and data capabilities and grow eCommerce sales.”

Van Oosten said: “I’m delighted to be returning to Kingfisher after a decade that has seen technology change the world, especially in retail.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on the foundations Kingfisher has established.”
