The UK Marketing lead for Uber has left the company as part of plans to cut 400 marketing jobs.

Rachael Pettit spent five years at Uber after previous roles at YPlan, GetTaxi and Original Travel.

She joined the taxi-hailing app company as Head of Marketing and Business Development for UK and Ireland before becoming Director of Marketing for UK, Northern and Eastern Europe in December 2018.

Uber’s head of EMEA marketing Patrick Stal is also leaving after being replaced by Google’s former northern Europe marketing boss David Mogensen.

Rachael remains an EMEA board member at the Mobile Marketing Association. She told Campaign: "After close to five years at Uber, I decided to take some time out with my family. I've just returned from a fantastic trip travelling through Europe and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with my little girl and husband before I start to look for my next challenge later this year.

"I had the most amazing experience with Uber, leading a world-class team across northern and eastern Europe, and I'll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines."

2019 was a rough year for Uber as they announced redundancies for a third of its global marketing staff.
