TBWA\London win global account for tech leader AMD

AMD, the innovative chip manufacturer, have appointed TBWA\London as their global agency of record.

The semiconductor company provides components for hundreds of millions of devices and technologies across consumer, business, and scientific applications.

On the consumer side they are particularly popular amongst the burgeoning gaming community, which has adopted the company as its preferred chip manufacturer over the incumbent Intel.

TBWA\London will work on brand strategy, a full-scale brand campaign, and a series of product launches for the company.

The first work will be delivered in the Autumn, and will consist of video, digital, social, retailer, and partnership communications in 18 territories including the UK, US, Germany, Canada, and Australia.

The agency won the account following an extensive pitching process which eventually saw them beat Wieden & Kennedy.

Commenting on the appointment, AMD chief marketing officer John Taylor said: “TBWA\London impressed us with their disruptive thinking and storytelling, and we liked the way they challenged our ideas around strategy, creative, and design.

"We look forward to working together to bring the AMD brand to life in ways that defy convention and celebrate AMD pushing the envelope in high-performance computing.”

Brian Swords, TBWA\London’s head of international clients, added: “As a company that already boasts 50-years of innovation heritage, we’re looking to help AMD build a world-class brand that drives a further 50 years of momentum in the product development space.”
