London-based indy digital agency LAB has appointed Mark Parsonage as its first Chief Technology Officer, as it looks to its next phase of growth.

With 22 years’ experience in technology roles, Parsonage’s previous positions include Head of IT Operations at Camelot and Head of eCommerce Development at BT Expedite.

In his new role at LAB, Parsonage is tasked with leading the agency’s technology offering and scaling its processes, as the business continues to grow.

The agency uses a blend of consumer neuroscience, psychology and behavioural economics to design, build and market digital brands and experiences.

Parsonage will develop and implement appropriate best practice approaches to software delivery as well as rethinking the way in which the agency selects architecture and technology solutions, the firm said.

He’ll also collaborate with LAB’s development team leads, as well as working closely with the agency’s other department heads, to help deliver industry-leading work for clients.

He will report directly to LAB’s CEO, Jonny Tooze.

"I’m delighted to be joining LAB as CTO”, Parsonage said. “This newly-created role represents a rare opportunity to really have an impact and help shape the business.

“I’m looking forward to working with the development team, and to supporting them in their continued success."

Jonny Tooze, Founder and CEO at LAB, said: "Mark is a truly authentic leader who is totally focused on achieving success by supporting others to be the best they can be.

“He has a wealth of amazing experience working in and leading software and technology teams. We’re thrilled to welcome him as our first CTO.”
