Essence’s Claire Grinton promoted to oversee EMEA Experience

Essence, a global data and measurement-driven media agency and part of GroupM, has promoted Claire Grinton to SVP, Head of Experience, EMEA. 

In this newly created, cross-functional role, Grinton will be responsible for unifying Essence’s media, creative, content, and partnerships teams in EMEA with strategy to help clients scale creative innovation programmes, the company said.

Grinton first joined Essence, which has offices in London, in 2014, working out of the company’s headquarters in San Francisco before moving to London in 2016. 

Since joining the agency, she has been a key member of Essence’s Experience team, most recently as VP, Global Head of Experience Strategy, and has worked with clients including Google, Universal Pictures, and HP. 

Prior to Essence, Grinton worked in a variety of strategist positions at US creative agencies including Mekanism, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, and FCB.

Based in London

Grinton will be based in Essence’s London office and report into EVP, Global Director of Experience Design, Garrick Schmitt.

“Claire’s experience working across creative, communications, and strategy globally makes her the perfect person to knit these three disciplines together,” Schmitt said, “I’m delighted to have her lead our EMEA Experience team.”
