The editor of the BBC's 'Technology of Business' vertical has quit the broadcaster for a role at Vodafone.

Matthew Wall had been in his role for four years, and will now move to a new position as head of editorial and content at the mobile carrier.

In an announcement on LinkedIn, Wall said: "I'm really proud of the work I've done over the years - so many fascinating topics from around the world. But I couldn't have done it without a team of excellent writers, producers, editors, video journalists, and visual journalist specialists to help me.

"I will be forever grateful to the BBC for giving me the opportunity to work with some amazingly talented people."

The move is the latest in a gradual exodus of journalists and editors away from traditional publications in favour of branded content.

The last decade has seen brands of every size launch their own forays into content, at the same time as full-time roles in legacy publications become more and more scarce.

The BBC's Technology of Business section covers topics including the future of work, business trends, and practical business tech advice.
