To bring Chelsea FC fans closer to their favourite football stars, Dark Horses has created 'Chels Chat', inviting the audience into a footballers' group chat which features Hudson-Odoi, Kante, Mount and Rudiger.

The two-minute video was filmed to be mobile-first in portrait orientation, and sees the players chatting competitively, waiting for their next appearance with anticipation. The film begins with the viewer being added to the group chat by Cesar Azpilicueta, before Mason Mount asks everyone what they’ve been up to on the winter break.

This was the Premier League's first-ever winter break, providing an interesting opportunity for football clubs' official creative partners.

Directed by Tom Day from Insider, ‘Chels Chat’ is the second in the series of brand films Dark Horses has created for Chelsea FC, and will run on all of Chelsea’s channels as well as on the players’ social channels.

Steve Howell, Creative Partner at Dark Horses, said: “We all have a million WhatsApp groups these days, and with the first-ever winter break happening for English clubs, we thought it would be interesting to drop fans into the players’ group to see what they’re getting up to away from football. Of course, the answer is more football, but with some banter and lols thrown in for good measure.”
