As the COVID-19 crisis continues, employee experience platform Perkbox is extending access to its medical arm to all customers, offering cover for themselves and family members.

The coronavirus pandemic has meant that local GP surgeries are no longer able to offer face to face appointments as medical staff and resources are needed to help those suffering from the virus.

Perkbox Medical provides customers with 24/7 access to advice from qualified GPs via video and phone consultations, along with the ability to order prescriptions from home, through a platform provided by leading digital healthcare company Doctor Care Anywhere.

Perkbox is responding to an increase in demand for this service as customers look for alternative ways to access healthcare as they follow the Government’s advice to remain at home.

Headquartered in London, with offices in Sheffield, Sydney and Paris, Perkbox has raised around £25M in funding from the leading European venture capital firm Draper Esprit and angel investors.

Saurav Chopra, Co-Founder and CEO of Perkbox, said: "We are very pleased to give greater peace of mind to all our customers and their employees about the health and well-being of their families at this difficult time as a result of access to Perkbox Medical”.

This new offer means all customers will have the ability to book private online GP appointments at their convenience for themselves and their family members at a time when the UK’s public health services are more stretched than ever before

Dr Bayju Thakar, founder and CEO of Doctor Care Anywhere, said: “We are delighted to be working with Perkbox to ensure their customers, and their families, are able to access professional medical advice from our highly skilled doctors whenever they need it during this deeply worrying health crisis”.

The company considers the likes of Whole Foods, Nando’s, Caffe Nero and Levi Strauss & Co. among its customers.
