During the general election last week, readers of the Herald Sun, Courier Mail and Daily Telegraph will have witnessed a Brexit advert, but not from the usual suspects.

19 Crimes, the Australian wine brand, had their messages: "We didn't want to LEAVE Europe either" and "You got a vote, we got a boat," appear next to Brexit stories in the papers.

The ads, created by Wunderman Thompson, reference the history of criminal transportation from Europe to Australia in the 1800s and aligns with the wine brand's overall branding.

Angus Lilley, Chief Marketing Officer at Treasury Wine Estates, said: “With the UK election determining the way forward for Brexit, it was an opportune time for 19 Crimes to be a part of this conversation given the very essence of the brand, and our drive to live with conviction.”
