Abbis leaves Sainsbury's to take key marketing role at Debenhams
Andrea Abbis has left Sainsbury's to join Debenhams as its new marketing operations director.
Abbis was head of marketing, trade planning and media business at Sainsbury's, leading a team of 40 and responsible for developing the strategic vision, growth drivers and marketing strategy for the Argos, Tu Clothing and Sainsbury's non-food categories/brands.
She had spent 19 years at Argos, first as buying manager and then as trading manager.
Abbis will join Debenhams on March 9th.
In January, the department store revealed it would be closing 19 stores – resulting in 660 job losses - as part of plans to close 50 of its worst-performing stores, out of a total estate of 166.
The company entered administration in April last year after struggling to compete with the move to ecommerce and the decline in high street shopping.
