JDO launches student initiative with 0% alcohol drink challenge

Brand design agency JDO has launched the latest instalment in its annual hunt for the next generation of UK creative talent.

The agency’s ‘RAW’ scheme will this year ask students to create the brand and packaging for a new 0% alcohol spirit. The winning entrants will secure prizes including a paid placement with the firm.

JDO says RAW, launched in 2013, is a way for the firm to leverage the wealth of Gen Z talent on offer in the UK, and for it to tap into this highly competitive market.

Previous briefs for the RAW challenge have included the design of the cover for a new single from dance music duo Basement Jaxx, and the development of a new drink to be sold at music festival Bestival.

JDO founder and creative director Paul Drake said: “Graduates are the lifeblood of the industry and without a constant stream of them coming through, design agencies risk missing out on an invaluable creative input.”

The agency’s rincipal and group director Ben Oates added: “We’re looking for scholars of forward-thinking design and raw talent to help us continue to shape the future of branding.

“This is a massive opportunity to remove the shackles of convention and think big. One innovate idea could shape the entire future of the winning graduate.”
