Engine's former Chief Strategy Officer Matt Willifer has been hired for the same role at Carat, part of the Dentsu Aegis Network.

After eight years at Engine, Willifer left the agency in August 2019, along with co-founder Robin Wight, Chief Growth Officer Simon Peck and Matt Edwards, Creative and Experience Design Chief Executive.

Having also previously worked as Head of Strategy at M&C Saatchi, Matt will take up his new position at Carat next month, reporting to Chief Executive Jo Sutherland.

Replacing Lucy Ogilvie, he will be responsible for strategic thinking and thought leadership across the agency.

CEO Jo Sutherland told Campaign: "As media and creative move ever closer through the advancement of technology and data, it is the perfect moment for Carat to shift strategic leadership to a creative lens.

"We are thrilled to have Matt joining the team as he brings another strand of specialism and expertise both to the agency and to the leadership team at Carat."
